The Government of France has pulled their military out of most of Africa, including the Central African Republic, since these photographs were taken, so French soldiers are no longer using the forest around Dzanga-Ndoki National Park for their jungle combat training and survival exercises, and they are no longer flying their fighter jets and enormous "Transal" cargo planes low over Dzanga-Bai, to see (and spook) the elephants.

The political climate in the CAR remains precarious.
